Black-founded organizations are systemically underfunded, receiving only a tiny fraction of the $450 billion that is donated annually to U.S. nonprofits.
Consider these facts:
- Revenues of Black-led nonprofits are 24% smaller than White-led counterparts.
- Average unrestricted net assets for Black-led early stage nonprofits are 76% lower than similar white-led nonprofits.
- White-led organizations are six times more likely to receive corporate donations compared with BIPOC-led nonprofits.
- 11 percent fewer Black-led nonprofits received foundation support versus White-led nonprofits.
