Philanthropy Colorado advocates for policies that encourage charitable giving, including tax incentives. A recent Senate Finance Committee Hearing: Examining Charitable Giving and Trends in the Nonprofit Sector highlighted bi-partisan support for tax benefits that could boost charitable giving at this challenging time.
Read the hearing statement submitted by Philanthropy Colorado urging Congress to provide charitable giving incentives to all. The statement notes that while generous Colorado foundations provide more than $1 billion annually, individual donors also play a critical role in supporting nonprofit organizations and their community work. Providing a charitable giving tax deduction for the 90% of taxpayers who take the standard deduction rather than itemizing would give extra motivation to Coloradans of all income levels to give generously.
