When Coloradans voted to legalize recreational sales and use of marijuana in 2012, the active ingredient THC hovered somewhere around an average of 9.6%. Today, a similar study by the National Institutes of Health, finds the THC potency has increased drastically -- by some estimates up to 650% higher -- from pre-legalization levels. A host of other concentrated marijuana products have also been introduced as the market continues to expand as more states legalize marijuana.
Join us for this funders-only informational session to learn more about the rapid increase in potency of THC, the ways THC is consumed and how today’s marijuana products and use have been negatively affecting mental and physical health, especially in youth, young adults and BIPOC communities. We'll also hear about efforts to pass legislation in Colorado that would regulate the potency of these products, and new research that will be coming out in 2022. There will be plenty of time for questions and conversations with your philanthropic colleagues on this issue.
