ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY

Since 1975, the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, (NoCo Foundation) has grown to become our region’s trusted steward and service provider for philanthropists and nonprofit agencies. The NoCo Foundation consists of 600+ charitable funds and more than $230 million in assets.

The NoCo Foundation is a trusted steward and service provider to philanthropists and nonprofit organizations. It is dedicated to creating transformational community impact by inspiring philanthropy and engaging the region. We do this by serving as a grant maker, thought leader, neutral convener, and catalyst for strategic community initiatives.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Development and Philanthropic Services, the Philanthropic Advisor works as part of the Philanthropic Advisory team to secure new gifts in support of the Foundation’s mission, help existing fundholders meet their philanthropic goals, and grow the Foundation’s charitable assets under management. This position works as part of the entire staff to advance the Community Foundation’s key organizational strategies and priorities.

In addition, the Philanthropic Advisor manages the Foundation’s donor stewardship efforts including the Fund Liaison Program and Legacy Society. As part of this role, the Philanthropic Advisor oversees the delivery of exceptional services to current and prospective fundholders and donors, working across the organization to ensure seamless delivery, foster high-quality engagement, and encourage new and increased investment with the Foundation.

A successful candidate will have a passion for philanthropy, a community and relationship-centered mindset, and experience in fundraising and resource development.

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Relationship Building and Stewardship

  • Manage a portfolio of active and prospective fundholders with the goal of securing new and increased gifts in support of the NoCo Foundation’s mission and strategic goals;
  • Work with members of the Philanthropic Advisory Team to regularly update and implement a comprehensive fund development program that meets established development goals;
  • Work cross-team to resolve and develop creative solutions to fundholder requests and ensure responsive relationships aimed at meeting donor needs and expectations;
  • Support initiatives and special projects that promote philanthropy, including securing and renewing gifts and sponsorships in support of Community Champions and other initiatives;

Fundholder and Donor Stewardship

  • Oversee the Fund Liaison program, a cross-department fundholder stewardship plan, to ensure high-quality engagement of fundholders and encourage increased investment with the Foundation;
  • Manage Philanthropy Learning Lab programs, including coordinating with Foundation staff to deliver educational events, speakers, thought-leadership pieces, etc.
  • Coordinate with Foundation staff to manage the Grant Catalog for fundholders;
  • Serve as the relationship manager for a significant portfolio of donors;
  • Assist donors and fund holders in developing their philanthropic strategy and grantmaking objectives, maximizing their impact on the causes that matter to them.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in continuing education and networking opportunities to stay up-to-date with national trends and resources related to donor cultivation and stewardship;
  • Draft fund agreements and addendums to document donor intent;
  • Become proficient with the Foundation’s database to accurately track, research, and record donor engagement activities;
  • Build external relationships through local, regional, and national associates that inspire and promote philanthropy;
  • Regularly represent the Community Foundation in meetings, public presentations, and events with current and potential fundholders, major donors, nonprofit agencies, and businesses to build trust, awareness, and positive perception of the Community Foundation as a trusted philanthropic resource among key audiences.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Track record of establishing relationships, building trust, and securing philanthropic support;
  • Demonstrated success in relationship management, major gifts fundraising, and donor stewardship;
  • Understanding of the various types of philanthropic vehicles and their related tax benefits;
  • Excellent presentation skills, including public speaking and written communications;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong time management/organizational skills;
  • Ability to analyze and think critically;
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and competing priorities;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Hiring range for this position is $64,000 to $78,000.
